Bible Training for Pastors in Karnataka
by Rev: Francis ~ March 15th, 2008. Filed under: News.BTCP Report of March 1st to 15, 2008.
March 3rd Bellary: I had been to a District headquarter called Bellary on a preaching assignment. I was invited by ‘Living water’ church. On the same day I also invited Pastor Dinesh, Vinay, Ravi and two Christian families. I showed our BTCP books and talked about the Bible training for them. They are in the ministry actively working for God in their locality but they have not been to Bible College for training. Hence, I feel they do require BTCP training. When I told them that Bible training can come to their church, homes and town, they are very happy to under go BTCP training along with some other like minded pastors. They are willing to gather at least 10 pastors and active church believers who are involved in the ministry and start the training from July first week. The reason they want to start from July is in the summer the temperature (heat) will go very high, it is hard for them to come together for learning. They have shown interest for this Bible training.
I am visiting them again on 22nd March to meet all those who are interested and give them orientation of BTCP for half a day.
March 10, Chitradurga: I visited another district headquarter called ‘Chitradurga’ and met Pastor Solomon who is the president of Pastors’ association in that district. He is an influential person especially in that district. Prayerfully I spent time with him and explained the importance of BTCP training. He is open for the Bible training which can come to his home town. There are more than 50 pastors in this district who do not have Bible college training. Now he wants to start with ten pastors from May 1st, 2008. He is ready to begin this training, and he will select the ten pastors for the training.
March 11, Davanagere: I met a Campus Crusade for Christ coordinator Mr. Daniel Chindwal. He has an access to people and pastors in ‘Davanagere’ which is also a district headquarter. He also conducts Bible study every week in the town. He has also shown interest to adopt BTCP training to their Bible study group.
Apart from that I also met the director of ‘North Karnataka School of Missions’ Mr. Vijay Bhaskar. I have offered him the possibility of using BTCP materials as their curriculum for the training. I have given him the list of courses to pray and think about it. He has not given any final word as such but he said that he will think about it.
On the same day evening I traveled to another important city in North Karnataka called Hubily. I met Pastor Prince who is the founder of ‘Divya Jyoti ministires.’ He also teaches in the Bible School (Satyam Bible School) there have about 17 students. It’s a newly started Bible School. Since the Principal was out of station we could only talk to Principal’s wife about BTCP. She is happy to discus with her husband and other teachers and come to the conclusion. I sense that they are open to use our materials. I keep calling them and motivate them to use BTCP courses. Please pray that God will work in this regard.
March 12-13, Dharwad: I went to Dharwad for Family counseling Seminar for two days. The organization by the name ‘Caring Hands’ had invited me to speak to their seven pastors and their wives. There were also ten married singles along with these families who are working with Caring Hands. All together 30 people attended this Family Seminar. God used me to minister to them two days and they all seem to be blessed by my stay with them for two days. Pastor Arun Masi and his wife who are the founders of Caring Hands ministry also attended two days fully. They are impressed with this seminar. Pastor Arun asked each couple to meet with me personally to discus with them for their personal issues. It was a fruitful time where God ministered to them I could pray and give some advice by the anointing of God.
I have also introduced about the BTCP program to him and also showed him the manual and few books. He is very happy with our BTCP training and he has promised that he will use our materials only in Kannada language for their Bible training from July 1st. We need to provide them 10 books of the course before July 1st. I keep in touch with him and do the follow up work. I believe the Lord will open us the door to take BTCP training to their pastors.
Conclusion: As I look back of my visit to north Karnataka last week I feel the Lord has so good to our BTCP training. I visited them with much prayer and faith asking God to open the door for this training for the pastors and leaders to be trained. Prayerfully I will continue to visit various parts of Karnataka. This visit to these places cost me Rs. 1000 only.
Prayer Requests: This week is a passion week, I will be preaching in the Hudson church at Bangalore. This is CSI church consist of 1000 families. I will be preaching there on Thursday evening service and Good Friday afternoon service. After Friday I will travel to Bellary, then from 24th to 27 I will visit few Bible colleges to discuss about the possibility using our BTCP training in their schools. On March 28th my wife and I are leaving to Delhi, Dehradun, Shimla, Manali for ten days on summer ministry and also visiting some of our friends from the Bible college who are working in those places.
